BORDEL ON THE BORDER
Welcome to the 1920’s Vermont/Quebec border:- abuzz with illicit trade and local ‘entrepreneurs’ taking full advantage of regulations in both countries. Lillian Miner made a fortune with her Palace of Sin that straddled the US and Canada in this newly electrified era of automobiles and Hollywood stars, when vaudeville and burlesque performers still raked in the profits.
This light-hearted bilingual comedy for adults with sketches, puppets and songs plunge s the audience into this compelling era of competition between border guards and bootleggers, working girls and Temperance ladies. Come laugh and celebrate an easier, looser time in the history of our vibrant area.
Locally based performers, Doloreze Leonard and Mary Harvey incarnate 80 years of professional experience between them. Coming from two contrasting disciplines of British theatre and Quebecois circus, they met doing improvisation together in Sutton and have been dreaming of creating a show together ever since. Here it is!
